Our Treatments
Nerve Root Block and Facet Joint Block are minimally invasive pain management procedures used to diagnose and treat specific sources of spinal pain. These targeted injections can help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and improve mobility, particularly when conservative treatments such as medication, physiotherapy, or exercise have not provided sufficient relief.
A Nerve Root Block involves injecting a combination of local anaesthetic and anti-inflammatory medication near an irritated or compressed spinal nerve root. It may be recommended for conditions such as sciatica, slipped or herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or nerve-related pain radiating into the arms or legs. Besides providing pain relief, the procedure can also help identify whether a particular nerve root is responsible for the symptoms.
A Facet Joint Block targets the small joints located between the vertebrae of the spine. These joints can become painful due to arthritis, degeneration, injury, or excessive stress. Medication is carefully delivered into or around the affected facet joint to reduce inflammation and discomfort.
Both procedures are generally performed using imaging guidance to improve accuracy and safety. They are usually completed as day-care procedures, allowing patients to return home the same day. The treatment approach is selected according to the patient's symptoms, clinical examination, and imaging findings, with the goal of achieving effective pain relief and supporting a return to normal activities.
