Our Treatments
TLIF (Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion) is an advanced spinal surgery performed to treat certain conditions affecting the lumbar spine, particularly when conservative treatments such as medication, physiotherapy, and lifestyle modifications do not provide sufficient relief. The procedure is commonly considered for conditions such as lumbar disc degeneration, spinal instability, recurrent disc problems, spondylolisthesis, and spinal stenosis associated with nerve compression.
During TLIF surgery, the surgeon approaches the spine from the back through one side and removes the damaged disc material. A specialized interbody cage containing bone graft material is then placed between the affected vertebrae to restore disc height and promote bone fusion. Screws and rods are used to stabilize the spine and maintain proper alignment while the fusion develops.
TLIF can help relieve pressure on compressed spinal nerves, reduce chronic back or leg pain, improve spinal stability, and support better mobility. The technique is designed to minimize unnecessary disruption to spinal structures while providing effective stabilization.
Recovery varies depending on the patient's condition, overall health, and extent of surgery. With appropriate rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and follow-up care, many patients can gradually return to their daily activities with improved comfort and function.
